Scott, Harry, and Alice Head to VFX Bake-Off

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the seven films that will be invited to the AMPAS visual-effects bake-off — screenings of 15 minutes worth of VFX work from each shortlisted film — which will be held next Thursday, January 20.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1
Hereafter
Inception
Iron Man 2
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
TRON: Legacy

Seven films will enter, but only five will leave — the final five Oscar-nominated films in the VFX category will be announced along with the rest of the Academy Awards nominations on Tuesday, January 25, at 5:30 a.m. PT. The Oscar ceremony is Sunday, February 27.
