Oscar season marches on, with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announcing the 10 animated shorts that have been shortlisted for consideration as Oscar nominees. The selection was made from 56 titles that had qualified in the category.
Each eligible title was viewed by the Academy's Short Films and Feature Animation Branch Reviewing Committee in New York or Los Angeles. Screenings for the rest of the members of the branch will take place next month in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Three to five nominees will eventually be chosen for Oscar nominations, which will be announced on January 16, followed by the March 2 Oscars presentation.
