Avid has started shipping the new ISIS 2500 nearline shared-storage system it announced at NAB 2014, along with the latest v4.7 software package, which supports high-resolution media across all of Avid's ISIS systems.

The ISIS 2500 is part of the Avid Storage Suite, which runs on the company's MediaCentral Platform, and it's designed to augment online systems such as the ISIS 7500 and 500 and to support collaborative 4K workflow. Avid said it integrates tightly with AirSpeed 5000 playout servers, Interplay asset management, and Media Composer, as well as third-party applications — and the v4.7 software supports Adobe Premiere Pro, Autodesk Smoke, Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve, and Apple Final Cut Pro X.

As the successor to the ISIS 2000, which has 120 TB and 240 TB ISIS engines and a maximum capacity of 1.2 PB, the 2500 can use up to five engines with capacities of 160 or 320 TB, allowing a maximum of 1.6 PB of disk-based storage. The company suggests using the 2500 to store original source material transferred from camera original media until it's needed for final conform.

ISIS 2500 systems with a 160 TB ISIS engine start at $139,000.
