Convergent Design announced the release of the latest firmware for the Odyssey line of monitor/recorders, including custom 3D LUTs.

Firmware version 2015.5 now supports up to 140 user-loadable 3D LUTs for monitoring on the Odyssey 7Q and 7Q+. The LUTs are for monitoring only, and are not baked in, although when using v1.7 of Convergent Design's Apple ProRes Transfer Utility, the LUTs that were in use during the recording of a file are recorded in the file's metadata.

The Odyssey's image-analysis tools can now measure either the original source, or the image with the LUT applied. The LUT can be turned on or off on the video outputs, which can also be set to mirror the on-board OLED display.

Convergent Design has posted a description of possible image-routing options with and without LUTs applied under the new Odyssey LUT System.

Other new features include the ability to desqueeze anamorphic images (2.0x, 1.5x or 1.33x) for video output, the ability to display our output 17:9 images in letterbox or center-cut mode, a number of new monitoring modes, including dual zebras and expanded false color, and improved color reproduction for Sony FS7 and FS700 raw recording.

Here's Convergent Design's complete log of new features, fixes and improvements, and software updates in the latest firmware.
