Companies' Partnership Will See Tutorials and Tech Support Localized for Chinese Market

Assimilate is partnering with Beijing-based camera maker Kinefinity to give purchasers of the KineMini 4K or KineMax 6K cameras a one-year license of Assimilate's Scratch on-set and post-production software. As part of the deal, which gives Assimilate a foothold in the burgeoning Chinese film market, Kinefinity is becoming a global reseller for Scratch.

"It was key to Assimilate to find the right partner in China to work with for localization of product and support," said Assimilate CEO Jeff Edson in a prepared statement. "The combined Kinefinity-Scratch solution offers price/performance value that opens the doors to quality filmmaking for a broader range of creative professionals in China."

Assimilate Scratch added support for Kinefinity's KineRaw codec in v8.3.

A KineMini 4K camera body starts at $3,499 and a KineMax 6K camera body starts at $7999. Owners who purchased Kinefinity cameras prior to April 1 will be offered a discount of $199 for the one-year license and $999 for a permanent license, including three years of maintenance and support. After one year, the same discounted prices will be extended to Kinefinity owners who intend to keep using the software. (Purchased separately, a one-year license of Scratch runs $650 and a permanent license with one year of maintenance and support is $3,000.)
