Assimilate said users of Scratch Web, its cloud-based dailies and review platform, now have a quick and easy way option for VR review and approval.

Scratch Web VR streams VR content to Android phones via the Chrome browser. Users just have to launch a Scratch Web media link in Chrome, tap a goggles icon at the bottom of the screen, slip the phone into a Google Cardboard or other VR viewer, and review the content in an immersive 360-degree environment. Early customers of Scratch Web VR include Local Hero in Santa Monica and VR app maker Zeality, the company said.

Scratch Web VR supports the same kind of comments and annotations as the regular Scratch Web service, allowing notes to be returned to the sender.

What's missing is support for iOS. Assimilate told StudioDaily that ball is in Apple's court. and an iPhone-compatible version will be released as soon as Apple makes a required function available to iOS developers.

VR content can also be reviewed via Scratch and Scratch Play using a headset tethered to the computer, Assimilate said.

Scratch Web and Scratch Web VR are available starting at $79/month for a private channel.
