New Contributor Portal on the Web Allows JPG, AI and EPS Image Upload; Videos Must Be Sent via FTP

Adobe today debuted a new portal to Adobe Stock, allowing users to upload photos and videos to the service via a website or from within Creative Cloud applications. Adobe said contribution has been enabled only in Lightroom and Bridge, but suggested that Creative Cloud integration with more applications and content types (such as videos and vector graphics) will be added later.

Along with the new portal and integration comes an auto-keyword feature Adobe says uses machine-learning technology to automatically generate five keywords for each submitted image based on similar images that have already been tagged.

Having already integrated stock content with Creative Cloud applications through the Libraries panel, which makes it possible for users to browse and license for an illustration or video project without leaving the application, Adobe clearly wants to complete the circle by making it similarly painless for users to submit content.

Adobe pays a 33% commission on sales of photos and vector art and a 35% commission for video content. Submitters can request payment when the royalties due them reach $50.

The web portal allows images as well as vector graphics to be uploaded in JPG, AI and EPS formats with a maximum file size of 45 MB. However, video must be uploaded via FTP. Accepted video formats are MOV, MP4. MPG or AVI with a minimum resolution of 1280×720. Video files must run between 5 and 60 seconds with a maximum file size of 3.9 GB.

Content must include model releases and property releases for any identifiable people or recognizable properties that appear on screen; Adobe offers downloadable sample forms for newbies. Nudity is permitted (with "artistic value," naturally) as long as the model is at least 18 years old and a photo ID for age verification is submitted along with the model release, but "X-rated" content or "illegal content" per U.S. law is not.
