Chinese manufacturer Magewell said that some of its Pro Capture line of PCIe HDMI capture cards will be upgraded to support HDR10.

Supported cards are the Pro Capture HDMI 4K Plus, the Pro Capture HDMI 4K Plus LT and the forthcoming Pro Capture Dual HDMI 4K Plus. Existing cards can be upgraded to support HDR by uploading a new EDID file, the company said.

The new HDR capabilities are available now to software developers; Magewell said it will have its own “sample application” for testing, and will eventually add HDR recording to its own Capture Express software.

Perhaps predicting demand for HDR imagery in HD production as well as UHD, Magewell also said it plans to add HDR to its 2K/HD Pro Capture cards at an unspecified point in the future.

The new HDR capabilities will be demonstrated at Magewell’s NAB exhibit in booth SU6324.
