Die Antwoord’s own Ninja directed the latest music video for the South African band, using VFX contributions from L.A. studio JAMM to tell a story about feeling out of place. Die Antwoord’s Yolandi Visser plays an alien creature walking the streets of Detroit; shunned by the locals, she eventually transforms into a human woman played by Sixteen Jones — Ninja and Visser’s real-life daughter. JAMM created the photorealistic centipede and cocoon from which Jones emerges. “It was important to Ninja that the cocoon looked very real, but also unlike anything people had seen before,” said JAMM CG artist Zak DiMaria in a prepared statement. “We based the material of the cocoon on different molds and fungi to ground it in reality. Then we simulated it and allowed it to evolve and grow on its own into a very detailed and beautiful structure.”
