Cooke Optics is taking control of its Asian market presence with the opening of a new office in China.

The Shanghai facility will provide lens servicing and testing for the Asian market under the supervision of General Manager Jeson Hao and Thomas Greiser, Cooke’s director of sales for Asia, Australasia, the Middle East and Africa.

“We’re thrilled to have permanent presence in the Asia and Oceania market, based out of Shanghai,” said Cooke Optics Chairman Les Zellan in a prepared statement. “We’re a global brand with users all across the world, so it was essential for us to offer our customers in this region the same amount of support that customers have in Europe and the Americas. With Jeson and Thomas at the helm, I’m sure we’ll see increased adoption of the Cooke brand in the region.”

Cooke also formally announced the dissolution of its business relationship with Jebsen Industrial, which had previously sold and supported Cooke lenses in the greater Chinese region. Orders placed through Jebsen prior to June 2019 will not be affected, the company said.

Cooke said Hao, Greiser and Zellan are in attendance at the Beijing International Radio, TV & Film Exhibition 2019, which began Tuesday and continues through Saturday, August 24.
