idisk_shared_file

If you’ve got one of those expensive the-service-formally-known-as-.Mac accounts then you might be happy to see that Apple has added a new feature (that was apparently promised earlier in the year), the ability to share large files using iDisk. iDisk has long had the ability to post a file and then share it via a web link (a feature I often forget about) but this new feature allows you to email recipients from the Mobile Me interface as well as set expiration dates and passwords. There’s a QuickTime movie about the new feature on Apple’s site.

If only Apple would keep adding little bits and tools like this to Mobile Me it might one day be worth the $99 a year that the service costs. I would dump the service if it wasn’t for all the .Mac email addresses I have. I will admit that the iDisk service is a nice feature but there are other alternatives to most everything that Mobile Me offers. Apple is such an innovator in so many things it would seem logical that they could innovate in this space as well but so far it just hasn’t happened. Here’s hoping though.
