Company Adds Precision Engineering Division Alongside Film & Photo and Imaging Systems

Schneider Optics parent company Schneider-Kreuznach announced a restructuring that adds a new precision engineering division alongside the company's existing film and photo and imaging system business segments.

Among the casualties of the reorganization are plans for the company to produce MFT lenses for mirrorless cameras, as well as "the production of simple compact cameras." Instead, the company said it will continue to focus on lenses and filters, and will look for development and production partnerships in the automotive, security and medical technology industries, which it has identified as growth areas for the near future.

The number of employees is not expected to change, the company said.

The realignment has improved results so far this year, the company said, citing a growth in revenue for the first five months of 2015 when compared to the first half of 2014. "We have reorganized production overall and are now focusing on boosting productivity at our Göttingen and Dresden locations," said Wolfgang Selzer, the company's CEO responsible for production and finance, in a prepared statement.
