Recently FxFactory added the PHYX keyer to the FxFactory tool box and now comes another, PulpFx Abstract. While PHYX is a tool aimed at higher end production with several nice green screen keying tools, PulpFx Abstract hits a different post-production target: it’s “a stunning collection of 5 generators designed to produce show-stopping animated slideshows in Final Cut and Final Cut Express.” Slide show generators can often begin to look a little cheesy but that’s the nature of slideshows more than anything. Where a plug-in like PulpFx Abstract could come in really handy is as a sleeker PowerPoint alternative. There’s a demo movie on the Aquafadas website and you can get a full product demo in the latest FxFactory update.

The creators, Aquafadas, also offer iDive. iDive is a digital video catalog that’s “a central hub for your films and clips.” It looks like an iTunes for all different types of video. If you’ve got drives full of QuickTimes (as well as a lot of other supported formats) then try out the demo. I used iDive years ago on a massive DV project and it really helped with organization.
