broadcast, film and television, has added technical firepower to its
well-regarded sales and marketing team with the recent appointment of Mike
Pappas to the position of senior applications engineer, effective January
16, 2006.
Mike's role will be to conduct technical seminars and workshops on
Sennheiser, Neumann and the other distributed brands, providing application
advice, consultation and sales support. In his new role, Mike will work with
broadcast and recording studio companies, establish strong channel
relationships, assist in long-term strategic growth initiatives and handle
customer service inquires related to product applications, features or
specifications. Among other duties, he'll provide customer-driven feedback
to Sennheiser product managers and management on new product needs, industry
trends and related issues.
Mike brings a unique depth of audio experience to Sennheiser. His particular
expertise is in surround sound recordings. He has more than 500 hours of
live 5.1 Direct Stream Digital recordings to his credit and has been a
featured lecturer on 5.1 surround sound and broadcast techniques at leading
trade show workshops, such as NAB and AES.
Listeners of National Public Radio and KUVO Jazz 89 in Denver, Colorado are
familiar with Mike's engineering work. He serves as technical director and
engineer for various NPR broadcasts, including the popular "Toast of the
Nation" and chief broadcast engineer for KUVO, known for its breakthrough
technology in broadcasting 5.1 live concerts on HD Radio. Mike will continue
all his independent endeavors in addition to his new job responsibilities at
Sennheiser. In this unique dual role, Mike will be in the ideal position to
promote Sennheiser product lines while using his broadcast environment to
test new products and expand the applications of existing ones.
"By keeping Mike in a hands-on role in the broadcast industry, our customers
will benefit the most," notes Jeff Alexander, Sennheiser vice president of
sales/director of Neumann and distributed brands. "They'll be able to tap
into Mike's wealth of audio knowledge knowing that he's right there working
with our products in the 'real world.' He'll be putting them to the test on
a daily basis, and providing the kinds of advice and ideas that you only get
by being there."
According to Mike, "I'm thrilled that Sennheiser wants me to keep my chops
up in the broadcast arena. I've been a true evangelist for the company's
products for years. Now I'm just doing it in a more official capacity."
Throughout his wide-ranging career, Mike has been a prolific broadcast
engineer with experience including more than 1,500 live sporting events, the
2000 Democratic convention and various Super Bowls. In addition, he's been
