Former RIOT Colorist Brings National-Caliber Experience in Spots, TV

Colorist Matt McClain has joined the staff of Filmworkers Club Dallas.
Formerly with the Santa Monica, California post house RIOT, McClain
arrives with broad experience in commercials, music videos and
television shows. At Filmworkers Club Dallas, McClain will focus on
final color correction for commercials.
McClain’s appointment is the latest move by Filmworkers Club to add
talent with national advertising experience. Earlier this year, the
company hired colorists Joe Malina and Oscar Oboza, both young
commercial specialists.

Rachael Turnage, executive producer of Filmworkers Club Dallas, said
that she was delighted to learn that McClain, who had recently
relocated to Dallas for family and lifestyle reasons, was available.
“The Dallas market is starved for talent on par with artists in New
York and Los Angeles,” she said. “Filmworkers has answered by building
an A-list team; McClain is the finishing touch.”

For several years, McClain worked as an assistant to veteran commercial
colorist Bob Festa. He also assisted senior colorists Clark Muller and
Brian “Crash” Carlucci on projects for major national advertisers. “I
was fortunate to have learned my craft from some of the best colorists
in the business,” McClain said. “Texas agencies are turning out great
work and I would like to encourage them to keep more of their telecine
work here.”

McClain’s credits as final colorist include ads for Expedia (part of
L.A. agency Deutsch’s award-winning campaign on the foibles of travel),
ScotiaBank (via Toronto agency Bensimon Byrne) and the Red Rock Casino
in Las Vegas. He has also colored music videos for such up-and-coming
artists as the Brazilian Girls, 8mm, the 88 and Angels & Airwaves.
