Doremi Labs Offers Single-Server Approach

For post-production houses offering 4K services (or wanting to), Doremi Labs has introduced a new high-resolution image mastering and playback system that uses a single server and an image processor for playback. It offers 4,096 by 2,160 lines of resolution, or four times the display area of 1080p video.
The company said that current 4K image-playback systems require the use of up to four synchronized HD video servers, which can be expensive and complex to configure correctly. The Doremi Labs engineering team has developed a 4K system in a 4-RU enclosure that provides four DVI or four dual-link HD-SDI video streams for connection to a 4K projector.
The 4K playback system uses JPEG 2000 compliant image files, which can be created with Doremi’s DMS-2000 hardware accelerated mastering station or other software-based encoders.
