The American Lives Team is Requesting Submissions From Documentary Producers Who Have Previously Been Accepted by a Film Festival

American Lives is calling for documentaries for the premier season of a new PBS series that explores the lives of ordinary Americans who make an extraordinary impact on the world around them. Airing on PBS nationally in 2008, the show will introduce the world to a broad spectrum of the way that Americans live today.

American Lives "Puts the real in reality TV,” says Executive Producer Laura Douglas. Each 30-minute program features three 10-minute documentaries about real people.

The American Lives team is requesting submissions from documentary producers who have previously been accepted within a film festival. We are looking specifically for poignant people stories. Submissions may be of any length, shot in any format. Talent and copyright licenses must be provided upon request.

If selected, producers will have an opportunity to have their documentary featured in the premier season of a national show. “If you have brilliant story we want you!” declares David Pepper, Co-Executive Producer. “American Lives reflects the continually changing face of a diverse nation,” continues Pepper.
