Rushes Soho Shorts Festival, now celebrating its ninth consecutive year at the forefront of the European film festival calendar, is delighted to announce its first call for entries in 2007.

The festival, renowned for its not-for-profit status and its championing of emerging young talent, has grown dramatically each year with last year seeing more than 2,000 entries from filmmakers around the world.

This year sees the addition of a Documentary category, complementing the 5 original categories: Short Film, Newcomer, Title Sequences & Idents, Music Video and Animation.

Joe Bateman, Festival Director, says “If you know our festival you’ll be aware that the skill and talent for producing short films is something our filmmakers have in abundance, it has led the festival to become internationally recognised and this year, with the addition of the documentary category, we will be presenting the most exciting festival yet!”

Rushes Soho Shorts Festival 2007 will run from 28th July to 3rd August with Awards for the Best Director in each category being presented on Thursday 2nd August.
Previous patrons have included Bill Nighy, Ray Winstone, Charles Dance, Alison Steadman, Jimi Mistry, Michael Sheen, Sean Pertwee, Leslie Phillips, Jack Dee, David Soul, Stephen Wooley, Patsy Palmer, Natalie Press, Graham Norton, Ashley Walters, Jamie Winstone, Stephen Daldry, Abi Titmus, Marc Evans, The Pipettes and Zoe Telford.

Deadline for entries will be 4th May 2007
