Hornet announced today they signed Yves Geleyn to
their directorial roster
A true hybrid, Yves was brought into the World via the love of a German lady and a French man in Reading, England of all forgotten places. After this unfortunate false start in life and the fact that burning wax crayons and making hand paintings was his most loathed past time activity, our dear little Yves landed in Paris, capital of culture. Here, surrounded by the delights of a rich artistic history, he embarked upon a flourishing early career in……..rugby ! Position – Lock no 04.

Well, he is six foot two ! Obviously the rigorous and strict education of playing with the oval ball stood him in good stead and after a brief hesitation to become a French chef extraordinaire, he finally took on the less fattening option of becoming a designer. Yves' background has mainly been in print, working on poster designs, book and cd covers but has also worked on installations and signage notably for large museums and other cultural establishments.

His move into motion was a natural progression with a common goal – to communicate and narrate with visual beauty and innovative style. 'Soot Monster', one of his first animated creations continues to do the rounds in international festivals and is a delightful expression of this true hybrid in motion. His piece ‘De Reve Est D’Encre’ garnered him a special prize at the Adobe Contest, and ‘Soot Giant’ was picked up by Pictoplasma and was part of last year’s onedotzero festival (which is on their latest DVD).

Yves continues to be represented by Passion Pictures-Paris in Europe. Hornet formed its own production alliance with Passion last year which gives Passion access to Hornet’s US directors
