Media Distributors, America's preeminent distributor of professional products and services for entertainment and enterprise, has launched a Green Partners Program. The new program represents a natural extension to the company’s already popular and successful motion picture film buyback and recertification services, film archive products production, data migration and barcode programs. The announcement was made today by Richard Myerson, president, and Tom Evans, senior vice president, marketing, Media Distributors.
The Media Distributors Green PartnersSM Program is an integrated customer service initiative through which Media Distributors offers its clients: a videotape stock buy-back and recertification program, aptly named “MD Certified Media,” a unique clean-room recovery process, disposal, pick-up and delivery of stock, format migration and consulting, and format conversion services.

For example, Media Distributors’ comprehensive recertification services will include the immediate degaussing of materials, and end-to-end evaluation in RTI machines along with a second degaussing, a grading process (A, B, C, based on d/o count,) a physical and cosmetic inspection and removal of flaws, labeling and ink removal, a third degaussing, and finally repackaging and shipping.

Regarding the new program, Mr. Myerson said, “We are pleased to announce the launch of the Media Distributors Green PartnersSM program. We felt the timing was right to begin this new program now, due to the increasing operating expenses that are incurred by many of clients during production, including fuel, staff and other services. Our customers must also deal with the high cost of factory-sealed video stock, especially in the digital and HD formats, as well as the environmental implications of using these stocks. Today, over 500 million professional video tapes, globally, are built using ABS plastic, metal and ferric oxide components. We seek to slow the conventional trend of tape ‘library to landfill,’ with highly cost effective, eco-friendly alternatives.”
