"I am excited to join Nomad," says Debbie McMurtrey. "They have a great reputation and I have the opportunity to be a part of this office from its inception. I look forward to building on my past work, while being introduced to new people via Nomad."
Executive Producer Lynne Mannino brings a wealth of experience to Nomad including a six-year tenure as Co-Founder/EP of editorial house 3 Fingered Louie and eight years as producer for Mad River Post (Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York). After spending a year on personal projects and travel, Mannino jumped at the opportunity to work with longtime friends/Nomad partners Tom Muldoon, John Murray and Scott Carleton.
"John, Tom and Scott are extraordinary people," comments Mannino. "I appreciate the opportunity to collaborate and be in partnership to create an exceptional environment in the NY office.
"Nomad is a company that nurtures talent and finds strength in collaboration
and a diversity of ideas," she continues. "I am a big fan of Debbie's – her reel showcases a great sense of humor, timing and versatility. She has a long career ahead of her and I look forward to being part of that journey."
The new office, located in the heart of the Flatiron district on 21st Street between 5th and 6th, is a natural next step for Nomad. Partners Tom Muldoon and John Murray typically spend 3-6 months a year working in New York, until now via the "gracious hosts" at Chinagraph. The impetus for opening this year was Lynne Mannino's availability.
"John and I have known Lynne a very long time and have watched her career closely, so we know how she manages and that she is a great person," notes Tom Muldoon. "We've wanted to launch NY for two years but she was the true catalyst for the idea becoming a reality."
"She is smart and exceptional with people," agrees John Murray. "Nomad's environment has always been very open and collaborative and Lynne's approach is the same. We have an implicit trust and look forward to broadening our scope with Lynne, Debbie and our new home in New York."
Nomad/NYC is a 5,000 square foot environment with windows in each room with sweeping views of the city including the beloved Art Deco Empire State Building. The office is networked to Los Angeles for seamless collaboration between all editors and the Santa Monica-based Sound Designers Francois Blaignan and Tom Stamatio.
Nomad was founded by Tom Muldoon, John Murray and Scott Carleton who originally met at Propaganda. Since its inception, Nomad has built a reputation as a leading, dynamic editorial company with integrated graphics and sound design. Agencies Weiden & Kennedy, TBWA/Chiat Day, BBDO, Goodby and Fallon, and noted directors Traktor, Kinka Usher, Sam Beyer, Michael Bay, Frederik Bond, Dayton/Feris, Gerard de Theme and Guy Ritchie have collaborated with the Nomad team on spots seen around the world. The company has a strong relationship with Bruckheimer Films and has worked on feature film projects with DreamWorks, Disney, Warner Brothers and Fox. The editors have also worked on more than 250 high-profile music videos for a variety of artists including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Madonna, Tom Petty, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson and Bon Jovi.
"I have always championed creative people and believe in providing an atmosphere that allows them to focus on inspiration and execution," concludes Mannino. "Nomad has been bi-coastal for years but now we have a permanent home in NYC. My goal with it is to create a welcome space where clients and staff alike can focus on the creative process."
