Northern Lights has expanded its team with the addition of Editor Michael Hoerner. Hoerner comes to the award-winning boutique with experience in promos, commercials, music videos and short films, and has already launched into projects for USA Network and VH1.
He just played an integral part in the launch of the USA Network original series "Burn Notice," which premiered last Thursday and was the top-ranking show for both the 25 – 54 and 18 – 49 age demos with over 2 million viewers.

"Mike's style and sense fit in nicely with our roster and our philosophy," says Mark Littman, Northern Lights Partner. "He understands how to deliver a great cut while also giving the client a nice experience. We're happy that he's joining our team."

"They're great, talented guys, and they run their company like a well oiled machine, which is imperative," remarks Hoerner. "As an editor it's fun for the creative process to be a bit mad, but to have that freedom you need absolute organization around you. What can I say, Northern Lights is an excellent post house, and I'm thrilled at the opportunity to be a part of their lineup."

Hoerner began his career at Red Car/Hollywood where he learned under Larry Bridges and Rob Watzke. During this time, he worked on campaigns for Pepsi, Nike and British Airways with the likes of Directors Joe Pytka and Tony Kaye. In 1993, Hoerner re-located to the New York office of Red Car before joining Eye Patch, the in-house editorial department of ad agency Ogilvy & Mather, as Senior Creative Editor. Credits include multiple spots for American Express, IBM and a Super Bowl spot for Wilson Sporting Goods.

After a successful two-year run at Ogilvy & Mather, Hoerner decided to take some time off, moving to Australia with his family and working on personal writing projects. Upon his return to New York in the late '90s, he jumped into promos for the "Judge Hatchett Show," which led to work for USA Network, SCI FI Channel, IFC, MTV and VH1 to name a few. Hoerner has also directed, shot and edited various projects, including a music video for the band Extra Virgin, which was a spin-off from Blind Melon. He's also currently working on his own web series.

"I love editing promos; it keeps you sharp and in tune, because the turnaround is so quick," concludes Hoerner. "You've got to be on your toes. I don't have one editing style – I look and listen for what wants or needs to come out, depending on the project and the goal, then I give it life. That's my style and Northern Lights provides me with the support and platform to do just that."
