The company's new series of webcasts clarify the different specifications and terminology used for HD recording media.

Looking to take the guesswork out of trying to decide which HD format is right for your particular project, Sony Electronics’ Professional Media Group is conducting a series of free online seminars on high-definition recording media and formats.
Designed for content creators working in TV and motion picture production, the seminars spotlight a variety of media technology ‘ including tape, disc and solid-state ‘ that are offered by Sony across its product lines. Wayne Desmond, Sony’s national training manager for its Media & Applications Solutions Division, leads the web-based courses.

The seminars include such topics as the different specifications and terminology used for HD recording media and how manufacturing impacts the reliability of a format’s performance. There’s also a seminar on protecting your digital assets.

Also covered are specific guidelines on the importance and basics of head and tape-path cleaning, in-depth recommendations on near and long-term storage solutions, and options for content recovery.

The online seminars will be conducted January 29 and 31 as well as February 19 and 21. For more information on the schedule of seminars and how to register, visit www.sony.com/promedia/ and click on the “HD Media Technology Seminars” link.
