International Duplication Centre (IDC), a New York City-based digital post-production and new media facility, today announced that it has acquired Phoenix Productions and has formed a new fully integrated production, creative motion branding and post-production division, Air Station, headed by Chris Phoenix.
Phoenix Productions has specialized in consulting for magazine publishing companies expanding their brands to the web through video and rich media programming and advertising. Phoenix Productions clients have included: Wenner Media, Hearst Corporation, Conde Nast, Dennis Publishing, Montblanc, Kuma Games and Virgin Records. The company recently worked with Busboy Productions to develop motion branding for Comedy Central’s upcoming series Important Things with Demetri Martin.

“We’re very excited that Chris has assumed the new role of President of Air Station,” said IDC CEO and President, Marcy Gilbert. “Chris has a unique creative vision and the acquisition of Phoenix Productions completes our production capabilities and significantly increases our post-production facilities and services for commercial, broadcast and film projects.”

Gilbert will also serve as Air Station’s CEO. Air Station is in the process of expanding its facilities to include eight editing and motion graphic/animation rooms, including Final Cut, Avid, Pro Tools, Combustion, After Effects and Shake.

“I am looking forward to working with Marcy and being part of the exceptional IDC team,” said Phoenix. “Air Station will serve as IDC’s in-house creative boutique and is poised to lead as a cutting edge, motion design and post-production company.”

Air Station’s inaugural project, a series of :10 HD spots for Verizon, SAP, Cartier, Rolex and Marriott Hotels, will be unveiled by Avid during NAB 2008. These HD motion advertisements, are quickly replacing static posters in airports including JFK and LAX.
