DVS Presents its SpycerBox Central Media Hub With a New Feature Range

DVS presents its SpycerBox as a flexible storage solution at booth no. SL2612 at this year's NAB. SpycerBox may be used both as a NAS solution with integrated storage and as a file server or DVS-SAN backup. This novel cluster approach is based on the new SpycerLink technology, which allows the SpycerBox to be integrated into individual workflows that may be adjusted to meet the growing requirements of customers.
The Linux-based cluster solution offers an auto-connectivity option: The cluster – which consists of at least one SpycerBox – is easily scalable and expandable with additional cluster nodes. Thanks to a DVS import gate, the storage solution is independent of location and it is also equipped with data encryption features to offer customers highest security in addition to flexibility. Other features include archiving options and sophisticated caching algorithms. Thanks to its single point of administration, the cluster solution is very simple to manage. Customers also benefit from time-controlled and policy-controlled backup and restore features.

With its internal, RAID 5-protected storage the SpycerBox offers storage capacities for 24 TB of data material – all in a highly compact, single box. The SpycerBox cluster solution comes with the innovative Spycer data management software, which enables high-speed copying as well as browsing and editing of image data and their metadata. Thanks to an InfiniBand interface, multiple 20-Gb/s streams are possible within the cluster, both between individual nodes and to the systems comprising the workflow. Customers have a wide variety of interfaces at their disposal: In addition to InfiniBand, SpycerBox also offers 4-Gb/s Fibre Channel, 1-Gb/s and 10-Gb/s Ethernet, eSATA, FireWire ® and USB.

Markus Kohaupt, DVS Product Manager: “The modular architecture of the SpycerBox offers our customers a significant added value. To meet individual workflow design requirements, our SpycerBox-based cluster solution is scalable, enabling it to grow with our customers and their individual needs. We will present our new cluster solutions to the visitors of the NAB 2008 exhibition.”
