Los Angeles-based DUCK, formerly Duck Soup Studios is pleased to welcome veteran multi-disciplined director Simon Blake to their growing roster. Over the past several years, Blake has directed under the aegis of Chelsea Pictures, Sandwick Films and Brick. Simon is best known for his conceptual mixed-media approach that seamlessly blends classic and cutting edge film and animation techniques to create magical, thought-evoking worlds.
Partner/Executive Producer Mark Medernach comments on the new addition, “I’ve been following Simon’s work for years. I first became aware of him through our west coast rep, Andrew Halpern, and after getting to know Simon a bit more, I realized that his personal charm manifests itself in his work, which is both elegant and warm.”

Blake has worked with agencies such as Wieden+Kennedy, Y&R, Grey, DDB, Dailey and Associates, mcgarrybowen, Ogilvy & Mather, Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners, McCann Erickson/TAG, and Leo Burnett for major brands such as AT&T, Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Chase, Burger King and United Airlines to name a few. Blake’s longer form content includes the short film Domestic Intelligence for the South African writer surrealist Barry Yougrau, the short film Minotaur, one of the first HD films for the series Dreams: a Sony/Y&R collaboration, and World Gone Pretty, a quirky viral short about a day in the life of a would-be GI metrosexual for Levis 501. Blake is currently working on a short film entitled Stream.

Blake’s work has been praised in American and foreign press publications, and he is a two-time honoree at the AICP/MOMA show. Hailing from London, Simon originally trained as an illustrator/graphic designer. After working at various London animation studios Simon worked with noted mixed-media filmmaker Osbert Parker and never looked back.
