Free software adjusts monitor settings from your desktop

JVC has developed new software to help users of its DT-V professional HD monitors adjust color temperature, gamma curves and luminance levels with the click of a mouse. Bets of all: the software is free for existing customers who own JVC’s 17-inch, 20-inch and 24-inch DT-V flat-screen LCD monitors.
All JVC professional studio monitors are precisely calibrated at 6500K and 2.2 gamma correction at the JVC factory in Japan. Manual features include a unique backlight adjustment and, when combined with very high native contrast ratio, enable close matching of black levels to reference CRT monitors for critical viewing and color matching applications.

The new Monitor Calibration software allows user to measure and indicate the maximum and minimum luminance desired and automatically adjust the white balance and gamma correction. The PC software is compatible with X-Rite and Minolta color probes (purchased separately) and allows the user to adjust DT-V series monitors to individual luminance levels, color temperature and gamma curves. Monitor calibration data can be saved and re-applied to groups of monitors to achieve uniform color reproduction throughout the entire studio facility. Multiple color profiles, including factory calibration settings, can also be saved and re-applied if required.

The software can be downloaded at pro.jvc.com/calibrate/.
