SGO's Mistika system for 4K finishing is landing on the East Coast, with the announcement today that New York's Offhollywood will use the Mistika 4K as the finishing pipeline for work on stereo productions shot with the RED Epic and Element Technica 3D rigs.
In March, SGO and Element Technica announced that bidirectional metadata transmission was being used to link ET 3D rigs with the Mistika system, allowing information like rig, lens, and camera settings to be captured during production. That capability dovetails with recent trends toward bringing traditional post-production gear like color-grading and finishing systems on set to assist with the acquisition process.

“We’ve evaluated every tool in the marketplace, and some that haven’t even been released yet, and there is nothing even close to Mistika’s 3D tool set,” said Offhollywood CTO and co-founder Mark L. Pederson in a prepared statement.

Offhollywood’s current slate of projects includes the 3D feature film Hellbenders, which wrapped in April, as well as other upcoming films being produced in collaboration with production company Circle of Confusion.
