BBC Worldwide announced the debut of QuickTime
7 clips at www.bbcmotiongallery.com
Customers of BBC Motion Gallery, the clip and short form program licensing
division of BBC Worldwide, will now have access to high-quality,
high-resolution online preview clips with the adoption of QuickTime 7.
Offering users seamless digital production workflow, BBC Motion Gallery
preview clips take advantage of the ultra-efficient H.264 video codec in
QuickTime 7. H.264 delivers stunning video quality at low data rates,
offering crisp, clear video in much smaller files. BBC Motion Gallery
previews in QuickTime 7 will also contain a rich body of metadata,
searchable via the Spotlight feature in Apple ¹s Mac OS X version 10.4 Tiger
operating system.

"Apple continues to develop industry leading tools to service digital video
professionals and QuickTime 7 is no exception. BBC Motion Gallery is
tapping into the strengths of this video format to offer premiere quality
online preview clips with more robust search capabilities than ever before.
Our Mac-based customers can also improve production efficiencies with our
recently released BBC Motion Gallery Dashboard search widget, which enables
near real-time searches directly from the desktop," said Simon Gibbs,
Managing Director, BBC Motion Gallery.

"We're thrilled that BBC Motion Gallery is taking advantage of the amazing
H.264 video compression in QuickTime 7," said Frank Casanova, Apple's senior
director of Mac OS X Audio and Video Product Marketing. "BBC Motion Gallery
is the latest example of how the industry has rallied around the fast
growing H.264 standard."

QuickTime 7 makes the future of video crystal clear with features including
user-friendly controls and pristine H.264 video. The ultra-efficient H.264
video codec has been chosen as the industry standard codec for 3GPP (mobile
multimedia), HD-DVD and Blu-ray, which represent the future of
next-generation, high-definition DVD playback.
