Addition of Color Timing Suite Makes Keep Me Posted a Full-Service Facility

Prominent colorist Tom Overton has joined Keep Me Posted, a FotoKem company, to chair the new da Vinci 2K Plus color timing suite. Keep Me Posted is adding the da Vinci 2K Plus to complete the suite of services it offers clients seeking a one-stop solution for television postproduction.
“The da Vinci 2K Plus and Tom Overton are the final pieces of the puzzle that completes the picture of Keep Me Posted as a full service facility,” said Andrew Hanges, president of Keep Me Posted. “With a person of Tom’s caliber at the controls of the da Vinci, we can provide clients a level of creativity and expertise in television finishing that is unmatched.”

A veteran of over 20 years as a colorist in major facilities, Overton’s credits cover the gamut of television from commercials to mini-series, made-for-TV movies and primetime drama. He is known for his versatility in creating the look of shows as divergent as “Judging Amy” and “The Shield.”

“I came to Keep Me Posted because I like where they’re going,” said Overton. “They’re investing in a very client-centered infrastructure where everything from editing to compositing and now color timing is close at hand in a friendly boutique atmosphere. Keep Me Posted is giving me the tools to take my craft and my clients to the next level.”

Overton began his career in 1980 as a telecine colorist at Compact Video. Over the next 20 years, he played a key role in defining the art of color timing as it evolved from telecine to tape-to-tape color correction. Overton also launched the color timing department at another major facility in 1985 where he served as trainer and mentor for a new generation of colorists.

“I consider myself the final member of the camera crew,” added Overton. “When I started in the early days, people’s TVs didn’t vaguely reproduce what I was doing with color; but now with HD, we can push that image and take it farther, and in so doing, have more of an impact on telling the story.”

“As part of the FotoKem campus, Keep Me Posted has access to the advanced technology and experienced staff of a major facility,” continued Hanges. “Together with FotoKem, we’ve created a pipeline for creating imagery that has never been possible before. We’re putting at Tom’s disposal the finest tools available where he can take clients to new levels of creative story telling with color.”
