kaboom productions is excited to announce its new addition to the roster – the exclusive US representation of preeminent Icelandic director Reynir Lyngdal (he is represented in Iceland by Pegasus). kaboom has built its reputation on excellent directorial talent, a global perspective and a no jerk (to politely paraphrase) policy, so when exec. producer lauren schwartz was introduced to Lyngdal's work she knew it was a perfect fit for the company. This director signing comes simultaneous to the addition of new Midwest rep, Dave Dakich of dbl.D representation.
"Reynir's style combines a great visual look with quirky comedy, as well as an eye for physical expression that comes from his early dance-based films," notes Schwartz. "His reel has the kind of work that makes you feel invigorated about being a part of the advertising industry, and I am excited to introduce his talent to the US market."

By his teens Lyngdal was a prodigy, winning numerous awards for video art and short films. After studying cinematic arts at the prestigious CECC in Barcelona, Lyngdal returned to his native Iceland. Not forgetting his artistic roots he directed a slew of choreographic shorts, winning awards and exhibiting around the globe including the Reykjavik Short Film Festival, Prague Shorts Festival, the St. Petersburg International Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival.

Lyngdal ascribes to a hands-on filmmaking approach, immersing himself in the creative process from the initial conceptualization to final editing. His commercial efforts have received a number of awards at home and abroad. In the summer of 2003 one of his commercials for Thule Breweries was short-listed at Cannes.

In that same year, Lyngdal was chosen by the European Film Academy & Wim Wenders to create and direct the short film, KISSING, which was shown at the European Film Academy Awards. He recently completed directing segments of Iceland's annual New Year's Comedy television special, a wildly popular program that wickedly satirizes the year's political and pop culture events.

In his spare time Lyngdal, married to actress Elma Lisa Gunnarsdottir, deejays music to nurture the club-youth of Iceland (or, to it another way – directing the crowds via music). In addition to his commercial work, Lyngdal is developing a thriller-genre feature film.

"My main interest in life is film," comments the director," and I am always trying to expand and develop the craft. Being represented by kaboom means the possibility of collaborating with new clients on interesting work in the US, which is an exciting opportunity."

An homage to childhood chemistry set experiments, kaboom productions features the unique director talents of sausage (john benson & ward evans), brandon dickerson, gary shaffer, doug werby and danny weisberg. At the heart of this explosively fun environment is owner/executive producer lauren schwartz, who is an uncanny combination of hip camp counselor and dynamic producer. Simply stated, kaboom's philosophy is to have fun, make clients feel comfortable, and create the best possible work in a collaborative environment. With these essential elements in mind, kaboom has attracted the noted talents who comprise the company's compelling director roster.
