Sweden-based design, animation and production studio FilmTecknarna is pleased to welcome Magnus Renfors to its directorial roster. Renfor’s unique and elegant style blends sophistication with breathtaking visual solutions; the goal being to evoke an intense, emotional response. In pairing with FilmTecknarna, Magnus’ career will be geared towards breaking into the international commercial and music video markets. His work has already received acclaim when he was nominated for two Swedish Grammy Awards for Best Music Video for Jose Gonzales’ Crosses. Renfors work has been seen in rotation on MTV with his music video for Tiger Lou and their track Sam, as in Samatha. Magnus has also directed videos for artists Peter Joback, The Tiny, and other Tiger Lou projects. Partner/Senior Executive Producer Lars Olson commented on the addition, “bringing on a talent like Magnus further increases our ability to produce high-end projects from start to finish. His avant-garde style and blend of dreamy animation with stunning live action perfectly matches our company vision.”
FilmTecknarna’s reputation and talented roster have helped to position it as a global creative solution, producing work for top brands and artists around the world. FilmTecknarna has grown from being a production and effects company (solely producing animation), to a full service company with sought-after directors. It now produces classic 2D and 3D animation, CG, and live action. This new relationship bodes well, as Renfors himself is an multi-tiered talent. A self professed jack-of-all trades, Magnus has experience with image design, painting, set design, illustration, and editing as well as working as a triple threat actor, singer, and dancer. Through this gamut of artistic exploration, Magnus was able to perfect his abilities as a multimedia storyteller which are characteristic of his directorial style. About joining the company Renfors adds, “It was a gut feeling when I chose to sign with Filmtecknarna…something to do with what I feel is the core of the company-playfulness. From what I've seen, there is a sane mixture of commercial work and more arty experimental music videos, and shorts. It feels like Filmtecknarna and I share similar ambitions of how to achieve our collective goals.”
