Ciprico's New MediaVault offers RAIDCore technology and up to 16 terabytes of HD storage

We all know that, in the world of HD production, video editors never have enough storage. So at MacWorld last week, Ciprico launched its MediaVault 5116 PCI express (PCIe) direct-attached storage solution. MediaVault 5116 is the second member of the company’s MediaVault 5100 series, adding support for the Mac OS X operating system.
With this new desktop or rack-mount 16-drive solution for Mac OS X users, video editors and production professionals get high performance at an affordable price, while supporting capacities of up to 16 TB.

Based on Ciprico’s signature RAIDCore technology, the MV5116 supports both SAS and SATA II drives while connecting to the host computer at data rates five times faster than 4G Fiber Channel solutions. Utilizing the latest SAS disk drives, the 5116 has demonstrated streaming performance of up to 1.4 GBps, making it one of the first products to support two 2K video streams simultaneously.

In addition, the rich management and scalability features of the MV5116 make it an ideal direct-attached storage expansion unit for servers such as Apple’s Xserve, providing up to 16 TB of ultra high performance storage via a single PCI express expansion slot.

The MediaVault 5100 solutions come with a host interface board (HBA), Ciprico’s RAIDCore software and all necessary adapters and cables.
