Steffen Wild has been named Digital Effects Supervisor for The Jim Henson Company’s new animated children’s series Sid the Science Kid, (formerly What’s the Big Idea?) slated to run on the PBS national feed. The announcement was made by Kerry Shea, Head of Digital Production for Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, to whom he will report. Wild will oversee all digital effects for the production, which will use the Henson Digital Performance Studio (HDPS), the Company’s proprietary technology for performing digital animation in real-time.
Prior to joining the Creature Shop, Steffen was a partner at the technology development company CirqueDigital, LLC, and Cirque|Film, LLC a consulting and film production company focusing on content for children. He was also the Digital Effects Supervisor for Centropolis Effects, LLC, responsible for creating and overseeing the digital effects of the 1998 blockbuster Godzilla. Steffen supervised the Academy Award- winning visual effects for Independence Day, the Academy Award-nominated Stuart Little, as well as The Faculty, Thirteenth Floor, Baby Geniuses 2 and A Sound of Thunder.

“We are thrilled to have Steffen Wild join our team. He has an extraordinary breadth of experience that will ensure Sid the Science Kid reaches its full potential using HDPS”, said Shea. “Steffen brings an unmatched talent for digital infrastructure to the table, and coupled with his experience in children’s content, this makes him a natural fit for this position.”
