New equipment operates in the 628-662 MHz band, making it compatible with broadcasters' DTV conversion.

Veteran microphone maker Azden Corporation is bringing a newly redesigned line of ENG wireless microphones and related transmission systems to NAB (booth# N4924) this year. The new equipment is designed to operate in the 628-662 MHz band, making it compatible with the DTV conversion that's mandated to be finished by February 17, 2009.
The new 1200 Series UHF System features the 1200URX/Si (slot-in receiver), 1200URX/AB (receiver with an Anton Bauer Gold Mount) and 1200URX/VM (V-Mount receiver) along with the 1200BT (body-pack transmitter) and 1200XT (plug-in transmitter).

Offering 188 digitally selectable UHF frequencies (638.125 to 661.875 MHz), the new receivers and transmitters provide excellent signal-to-noise ratio and extended battery life. The digital displays also provide information regarding signal strength, diversity antenna function and battery condition. All models benefit from newly improved compander/expander circuitry. The 1200XT transmitter also runs on 48V phantom power.

MSRP for the receivers ranges from $1000 to $1200 while the transmitters will cost $350 each. Delivery is expected in May.
