Storage Controller Extends Life, Improves Performance, Reliability and Return on Investment

ATTO Technology, a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments, today announced the release of new FastStream Storage Controller software, which has been tested in high availability configurations with the Apple Xserve RAID storage array. The software release on April 23rd addresses Xserve RAID storage and most storage arrays in the marketplace.
Professionals who have an investment in Xserve RAID storage can take advantage of this ATTO solution to address issues about future reliability, performance and capacity of their storage. FastStream SC can aggregate multiple Xserve RAIDs together to boost performance up to 750 MB/sec. while providing RAID 5 protection. As an added benefit, FastStream provides access to data at full performance in the event of an Xserve RAID controller failure using parity protection distributed among multiple arrays. In the event that you outgrow your storage, FastStream allows you to add capacity, be it Xserve RAID storage or any other Fibre Channel storage.

“The FastStream SC allows you to aggregate Xserve RAID arrays with 4-Gb Fibre Channel for better performance, greater capacity and improved reliability. Instead of starting from scratch with new technology, FastStream allows your Xserve RAID storage to compliment new storage technologies to provide performance for multiple streams of uncompressed HD video and 2K film thereby improving the return on investment and lifecycle of your Xserve RAID storage,” states Tom Kolniak, director of products at ATTO Technology.

ATTO will demonstrate the FastStream SC 7500 Storage Controller at their booth SL4320 during the NAB Show in Las Vegas on April 14-17, 2008. SAN Solutions will also demonstrate the FastStream SC 7700 Storage Controller at their booth SL8605 during NAB.
