Larry Birstock Becomes President, Prime Focus Global Integration

Post Logic Studios, a division of Prime Focus, announced today that industry veteran Rob Hummel has joined the company as CEO. Rob replaces the position vacated by Larry Birstock who is moving into an international role within the organization as President, Prime Focus Global Integration. Hummel joins Post Logic from DALSA Corporation where he served as the President of Digital Cinema, chartered with introducing the company's 4K camera to the motion picture industry.

Prior to his tenure with DALSA, Hummel served as Senior Vice President, Production Technology at Warner Bros. While there, he oversaw award winning digital restoration work on such films as Gone With the Wind and The Wizard of Oz. Before joining Warner Bros., Rob held positions as Sr. Vice President, Digital Cinema for SONY Corporation of America, Executive Vice President, Digital Development for Technicolor, and as Head of DreamWorks Animation Technology, he oversaw the building of the Animation Technology infrastructure. At the Walt Disney Studios Rob held positions in post production, Imagineering, and TV Animation.

Rob began his career as Director of Production Services for the professional film division at Technicolor Laboratories, worked at Douglas Trumbull’s visual effects company during Blade Runner, and was a post-production supervisor on Tron.

Rob is an associate member of the American Society of Cinematographers, and has hosted several seminars on motion pictures at venues ranging from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to London’s National Film Theatre. In his spare time, he has taught classes at the University ofSouthern California (USC) and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
