Features an intuitive operation concept with feedback on display

The 8-motor remote control ALADIN Mark II has been developed for 3D Rigs. At NAB 2010, Chrosziel has presented a prototype of the receiver with its new menu navigation for the first time. Although the name staid the same, the hard and software concept is completely new, however, fully compatible with existing ALADIN models.
Among other innovations, the ALADIN MK II features an intuitive operation concept with feedback on display. The reliable transmission of data has been retained and completed by a spectrum analyser that indicates field intensity of the selected channel and reveals possible interfering signals in the complete transmission range.
ALADIN MK II is an open system with a USB interface; it is imaginable that once adjusted values of distance and/or angles between the cameras on a 3D rig will be tracked automatically when the focus is changed. Chrosziel projects the delivery of the first units in autumn. According to Chrosziel, the price for a 4-motor basic unit will be in the range of the existing 3-motor unit and the 8-motor version will only be slightly superior. The photo, above, shows the spectrum analyser, the left bar shows field intensity in receiver channel 2, right bar interfering signal in channel 9.

Other new products shown at NAB 2010 include Chrosziel’s new MatteBox 456 Academy Double with 2 rotating filterstages for PL lenses with up to 12 mm focal length is ready for delivery. It is the first time that Chrosziel presents its new carbon design changing not only to a new look and colour, but also to an impact resisting housing material. “The material change has above all technical reasons, the fresh design is a welcome fall-out,” comments Chrosziel. The already existing MB 456 Academy Triple with 3 rotating filterstages has also been presented in the new carbon design in Las Vegas. The MatteBox 456 Academy Double (456-20) costs € 1430.

In time for the delivery of the Sony HXR-NX5, Chrosziel has developed its LightWeight Support 401-424. Unlike the usual height adaptation for LightWeight Supports of this series which caused little cost and effort, this time, the base plate had to be changed due to the extremely lateral position of the tripod mount, resulting in a new base plate, distance bolt and camera platform. The conversion kit is available as 401-424P and costs € 126, the complete LightWeight Support costs € 293 (all prices RRP ex VAT).
