Terence Lee, creative director at Roger, steps up to answers Five Questions.
1. What are you working on today?
A series of quirky music videos for the upcoming release of a new Ladytron album.

2. What have you found is the best tool or innovation that has come out in the
last year?

The increase of user generated content sites on the internet like Qoob.tv, Digg.com, and Ffffound.com provide me an endless supply of inspiration. Also, my iPhone. Mine is my BFF.

3. The project (film, television, commercial or music video) that most impressed you in the last year? Why?
The Love Sport series of shorts by Studio AKA was about as much fun you could have with graphics this side of the Milky Way. MK12’s History of America was awesome in scope and marked a return of one of the most innovative studios out there. Also, the music video for Justice’s D.A.N.C.E. wow’d me with its simple concept and great execution. Love watching all of these over and over again.

4. The best or favorite project that you worked on in the past year? And why?
I had a great time with “Jack is Back” for Nick’s Kids Choice Awards. It was an opportunity to work with Jack Black and Liam Lynch (who directed the live action shoot) as well as Nickelodeon on Nick’s biggest event of the year. The slogan for the awards this year is “Hollywood meets slime.” The client gave us a long leash to run with and lots of freedom to experiment. This project called for us to integrate live action footage of Jack into a fully animated world, utilizing 2D, 3D, flash animation, and hand drawn imagery. It was very fun!

5. Name the top 4 artists on your iPod?

Sia
Earth, Wind and Fire
Daft Punk
Chromeo

Recent Project: Jack is Back
Jack Black stars in the video singing “Jack is Back” to AC/DC’s famous rock anthem and taking viewers on a journey of wild imaginings that plunges Jack into a fully animated world that ends with a colossal Kids Choice Awards logo. This CG world, designed by Roger in collaboration with Nickelodeon and Liam Lynch, reflects Roger’s diverse palette of techniques including 2D, 3D, Flash and hand-drawn animation.
