We review Squeeze 4.8 in this issue (page 28), but be aware that Sorenson has just released a version 5 line-up: Squeeze 5, Squeeze 5 Pro (formerly Sorenson Squeeze Powerpack), Squeeze 5 for Flash and Squeeze 5 for Flash Pro. These new versions implement enhancements in video and audio quality, and encoding time, as well as contain new features. Squeeze 5 now lets you compress and encode as many as 1.5 files on each of its host computer’s processing codes. New video pre-processing filters include Watermark, Hue-and-Saturation and Sharpen. The workflow is purported to be more user-friendly, now including Audience presets, which let the user set preprocessing filters, filter order, encoding settings and output destinations. Available now for download or on CD. $199-$799 (depending on full version); $99 (starting for upgrades). www.sorensonmedia.com
