Easily installed system offers up to 96TBs of RAID 6 protected storage; allows multi-stream, real-time HD editing for up to 14 simultaneous users; pricing starts at $8,995

1 Beyond™, Inc. a leading provider of digital video editing and compositing systems, today announced the 1 Beyond EzHDSAN™, the industry’s first plug-and-play SAN to provide up to 96 TBs of RAID 6 protected storage, allowing multi-stream, real-time HD editing for up to 14 simultaneous users. Thanks to a unique patent-pending design, the 1 Beyond EzHDSAN is extremely easy to install, using a single standard Ethernet cable to connect each workstation to the SAN. The new shared storage solution for both Mac and PC is available immediately with prices starting at $8,995. The 1 Beyond EzHDSAN will be showcased for the first time at the 2009 NAB Show (Las Vegas Convention Center, April 20th to 23rd 2009) in booth SL8625.
“We designed our new EzHDSAN with three main objectives in mind: reliability, simplicity, and high performance. It also happens to be the most cost effective in the industry, with the lowest cost of ownership, price per seat, cost per terabyte and cost of installation of any shared HD SAN storage in the industry,” comments Terry Cullen, 1 Beyond’s CEO and founder.

The 1 Beyond EzHDSAN™ is available as a completely pre-configured and tested turnkey solution. It requires no technical knowledge, no intermediate switches, complicated wiring or Fibre Optics. It can be installed by an operator in a matter of minutes by loading a simple driver on each workstation and connecting one standard Ethernet cable between the computer and the SAN.

The 1 Beyond EzHDSAN™ system starts with an 8 disk model with 16TBs and can scale up to 24, 48 or 96 TBs of raw data and supports simultaneous real-time HD multi-stream editing in the most popular formats including DVCPRO HD, P2, VariCam, AVC-Intra, XDCAM EX, HDV, DNX220HD, M-JPEG, MPEG 2 / I-frame, ProRes 422, Infinity JPEG 2000 and others.

It is designed to handle from 6 to 14 users/workstations, and can also be connected to a company’s Local Area Network (Ethernet), allowing an unlimited number of authorized users to store and retrieve data at very high bandwidth.

1 Beyond’s new EzHDSAN also features RAID 6 (or dual RAID 6) protection, allowing for 2 (or 4) disk failures without experiencing any data loss. It also has the ability to define Hot Standby disks to automatically replace any failed disks 24/7 without intervention. Featuring predictive failure technology, the EzHDSAN continually monitors data disk performance. Should any parameters deviate from the acceptable norm, or should there be a failure, the EzHDSAN can send a warning email to 3 separate parties. In turn, the disk controller and individual drives can be interrogated remotely through a separate Ethernet port without disturbing users or disrupting their work, so that maintenance can be performed at the appropriate time, thereby greatly increasing efficiency.
