CS4-Optimized Graphics Card Ships in Discounted Package With Adobe's Latest NLE

Looking for an easy way to soup up your desktop machine for editorial? If you’re Adobe-friendly, you might want to consider NVIDIA’s new bundle, which packages the company’s Quadro CX graphics card with a copy of Premiere Pro CS4. At the introductory price of $1999, good through March 31, you’re essentially getting Premiere Pro ($799) for free with the purchase of a Quadro CX, which lists for $1999. Beginning April 1, the bundle will sell for $2299, still a $500 discount from list price.
NVIDIA says the Quadro CX is “designed and optimized” for CS4, including GPU optimization and support for DisplayPort uncompressed 10-bit or 12-bit SDI preview. The new RapiHD Accelerator plug-in for Premiere Pro, which is developed by Elemental Technologies and comes with the Quadro CX card, is said to reduce H.264 encoding times by a factor of about 75 percent, ideal for Blu-ray production. The company also promises additional free plug-ins will be forthcoming to offer new feature and performance improvements.
The Quadro CX uses NVIDIA’s CUDA parallel computing processor, sports a 1.5 GB frame buffer, and boasts memory bandwidth up to 76.8 GB/sec. The dual DisplayPort connectors support displays with up to 2560×1600 pixel resolution, and a dual-link TMDS transmitter will allow it to support up to 3840×2400 at 24 frames per second.
