The Sony F65, the ARRI ALEXA Studio, HP’s EliteBook 8760w Mobile Workstation, and Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve 8.0/Lite won top honors in the first-ever StudioDaily Prime Awards, held during a special breakfast ceremony at the Las Vegas Convention Center on Tuesday morning. Those four were named the most outstanding “Best in Show” products in four different categories honoring new products and upgrades in production and post-production.

The StudioDaily Primes, sponsored by Blackmagic Design and Marshall Electronics, were inaugurated this year to spotlight engineering excellence, usability, and value in technology products shipped during the preceding calendar year. Judges were drawn from the ranks of StudioDaily contributors and evaluated entries based on the criteria of innovative use of technology, integrated feature set, ease of use, and overall value. Products that scored most highly with the judges were broken out and named as winners, or honorable mentions, in different subcategories.

The biggest winner of the day was Litepanels, which saw its Sola Series of LED Fresnel Fixtures honored for Most Integrated Feature Set for a New Product in Production, Best User Interface/User Experience for a New Product in Production, and Best Overall Value for a New Product in Production. A number of other companies, including Blackmagic (for Resolve), HP (for its 8760w Elitebook Mobile Workstation), Boris FX (for Boris Transfer Suite and Boris Continuum Complete 8 AE), Avid (for Media Composer 6), Sony (for the F65), ARRI (for the Alexa Studio), and NewTek (for the Tricaster 850 Extreme) won two awards each.

A complete list of Studio Prime Award winners follows. Keep an eye open for details on next year’s awards, including entry details and requirements.
