A compact mounting bracket for hard disk recorders used with HDV cameras

Sony’s HVR-DR60 Hard Disk Recorder makes it convenient to record an HDV1080i video stream directly from an HDV camcorder. However, while you’re busy shooting the video, where do you store this important storage device?
Most shooters would attach the portable drive directly to the camera or clip it on the operator’s belt. Bebob Engineering has a better idea-a mounting bracket that puts the drive directly beneath the camcorder. The Bebob Box HVR Holder for the Sony HVD-DR60 is now available through U.S. distributor 16×9.

Developed specifically for popular Sony camcorders like the HVR-Z1U, HDR-FX1, VX-1000/2000 series, and DSR PD150/170, the Box-HVR fits between the baseplate and tripod plate. This compact 1.5-pound, cage-style carrier protects the HVR-DR60 while keeping it close at hand for handheld or tripod work.

The system’s smoothly gliding drawer cradles the HVR-DR60 recorder and holds it firmly in place. Fully extended, it provides access to the recorder’s display screen and controls. A quick-lock mechanism anchors the drawer open. When not in use, the drawer slides back inside the carrier and locks in position.

In addition, the Box-HVR drawer provides space for mounting the camera’s NPF battery just behind the hard-drive recorder. A 7.2V outlet is supplied for use with an external power supply.

The Bebob Box HVR is currently available at a promo price of $385.00. Accessories include a 15mm rod mount kit for $158 and an adapter at $104 to mount the Box-HVR onto Sony or Panasonic camera plates.
