Support System Based on K-Tek Carbon Fiber Telescoping Boom

Clairmont Camera has added to the versatility of the tiny Iconix HD-RHI remote head POV camera by developing a support system based on a K-Tek carbon fiber telescoping boom. An articulated ball mount allows the Iconix camera to be oriented and locked in virtually any position required for the shot. As an available option, the boom can be fitted with a miniature remote pan/tilt head that is controlled by a small joystick and allows for a full range of motion.
Although small in size, the 1.32″ W x 1.50″ H x 1.92″ D Iconix can deliver images suited to the most critical HDTV applications. This multi-format powerhouse is capable of 1080×1920 resolutions at 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97 and 30 PsF frame rates, as well as 1080p/i and 720p formats.

The telescoping carbon fiber boom can easily be hand-held. With the lightweight camera (1-1/3 pounds with Fujinon prime lens and remote head) plus cabling, the system is likened to a “fishing pole.”

A 6″ HD LCD viewing monitor can be attached to the boom at the operator’s end. This is powered by a custom battery that attaches to the monitor mounting bracket and acts as an effective counterweight for the monitor.

The companion Iconix CCU offers HD-SDI video output in either 4.4.4 or 4.2.2 sampling, and is compatible with virtually all tape or tapeless recording systems. Clairmont offers both the Sony SRW-1/SRPC-1 and Panasonic HPM-110 P2 recorder/editor systems.
