3D Potential: An Interview with RealD CEO Michael Lewis

Post your comments below

Why the recent surge in animated and live-action 3D productions from DreamWorks, Disney/Pixar and others? Because 3D films outperform their 2D counterparts at the Box Office by a margin of about 4-to-1. With maturing technology, most agree those profit margins will only increase in the months and years to come. In this video below from the Film Finance Forum in LA, Studio/monthly’s Beth Marchant summarizes the digital road map that’s led to the latest 3D revolution and interviews RealD CEO Michael Lewis about improved viewing experiences and the hurdles to wider 3D adoption in theaters nationwide and across the world.

Were you unable to attend the Film Finance Forum West in March? We have videos of two of the most popular sessions: Quick Money: Advantages of Funding an Indie and Filtering Pre-Production Packages and Business Plans. In these sessions top producers, financiers and deal makers discuss financing strategies, business plans and best practices of financing films. In addition, purchase of one of these videos before July 31 includes a $400 discount off the registration price of the Film Finance Forum East to be held in New York City, Sept. 16-17, 2009. 1.
"3D films outperform their 2D counterparts..." only if both are crap, otherwise - each media offers its own advantages.

"4-1" I thought that was a reference to profits, not an artistic comment.
