In another sign that broadcasters are starting to think more seriously about 4K transmission — although none of them are eager to flip the switch from HD just yet — Cinegy will be showing its first 4K products for broadcasters at IBC.

Products to be highlighted at the show next month include new versions of the Cinegy Multiviewer monitoring system and the Cinegy Air playout and automation system, as well as a version of Cinegy Player that supports the Sony XAVC 4K format.

Cinegy Air is being updated to allow for 4K playout as well as 4K via RTP and UDP streaming, the company said, emphasizing its support for a completely IP-based workflow (read: no more SDI).

Along those IT-centric lines, Cinegy announced at NAB that it was extending an agreement with Deluxe to develop the Deluxe MediaCloud platform for cloud-based broadcast services, including IP-based distribution to transmission headends. Deluxe said a new channel can be launched within a week for delivery to any broadcast format, removing many of the current time and budget constraints associated with playout.
