Press Release

New York Times bestselling author and chronicler of celebrity culture, Ian Halperin is about to release a new movie this fall. Titled His Highness Hollywood, Halperin’s new film takes an irreverent look at Hollywood’s favorite subject: Hollywood. Dressed up in a sparkling green shirt and gold tie and determined to convince casting directors that he’s royalty, Halperin takes viewers inside the film business, but from a very different perspective than any other filmmaker has ever done before. In a rollicking style, Halperin tells the story of how he set out to expose the world’s most popular industry, and in the process accidentally becomes a movie star. How did he meet his budget and deadlines? Ian Halperin tells why he edited his latest film with complete portability ‘ on a 1 Beyond Laptop.
In the process of exposing the secrets of the world’s most coveted trade, Halperin meets up with an all star cast of celebrities, including Jay Leno, Bill Paxton, Ron Jeremy and Sigourney Weaver, who are most eager to give him advice on how to make it in Tinsel town. This honest and often hysterical film may prove to be one of the best insider accounts of Hollywood ever made.
Shot entirely in DV over an 8 month period, the 2 hour long movie was entirely edited on a 1 Beyond DV Pro 3215 laptop. Halperin explains the reasoning behind is choice:
“When I decided to make this movie, I wanted to be able to take my time to play around with different editing concepts. However, I didn’t have unlimited funds to take it to a big post house, where you have to be conscious of every hour spent on the project for fear of going bankrupt. So I did a lot of research asked trusted colleagues and seasoned editors, and 1 Beyond came highly recommended.”
Initially, Halperin was a little skeptical about going down the laptop route, but once he got his hands on it, there was no turning back.
“Based on all the advice I got and the fact that when I called 1 Beyond everybody was so knowledgeable and helpful, I jumped right in and got the 1 Beyond (insert model number) laptop. Everything I had been promised was there…it arrived on time, fully loaded and I have not had one glitch with that computer from the day I got it. I simply swear by it! It’s so user friendly, it’s the Rolls Royce of machines,” enthuses Halperin.
“Moreover, the technical and post sales support you get with 1 Beyond is second to none because they genuinely care about their products. So many other companies just want to sell you stuff and care little about you afterwards, with 1 Beyond you know they want to make sure that you are happy and you have everything you need,” he adds.
When Halperin started editing “His Highness Hollywood”, he was in the middle of a big nationwide promotional tour for his previous movie “The Cobain Case”.
“When I was editing this movie, I was traveling all across America doing screenings and I brought the 1 Beyond laptop with me wherever I went so that I could edit my new movie on the road. It worked perfectly. I never even needed a second monitor, because I found the monitor of my 1 Beyond laptop to be of such high quality. I did not have one single problem. It was the smoothest editing experience I have ever had. I feel so strongly about this, I featured 1 Beyond in the movie credits!”
“When I tell people who have previewed the movie that I edited ‘His Highness Hollywood’ film on a laptop they don’t believe me and everyone thinks that I went to some major postproduction facility to edit it when in fact I entirely edited the film on my 1 Beyond laptop from hotel rooms across the country and sitting in my kitchen in my boxer shorts at 2 am whenever I had a bout of inspiration!””
“I’ve tried many other systems over the course of producing over 20 music albums and editing several films. I am very picky about the equipment I use and over the years I have had my share of frustrations. But with my 1 Beyond laptop, everything just worked perfectly. Working with an independent and caring company such as 1 Beyond is a bit like going to a great good local restaurant, where you get fed as if you were family. I’ll be starting work on a new film in November and this one will be shot in 24 p and I know exactly where I will be going when the time comes for me to upgrade my laptop!”
"We are very happy and proud to work with a producer of Ian's caliber and will be especially excited to see another 1 Beyond credit on the "Big Screen", explains Terry Cullen, CEO and Founder of 1 Beyond.
