Rhinopost has added Video Editor Preston Stewart to its staff. With over 20 years of experience working for companies such as VideoWorks, R. Greenberg Associates, and CBS Television, Stewart has garnered numerous awards and accolades along with a reputation as one of New York City’s premiere video editors. He has worked with virtually every major broadcast client: MTV, VH-1, Comedy Central, Showtime, Cinemax, HBO, Nickelodeon, TV Land, Oxygen, A&E, The History Channel, Discovery Channel, BET, Spike TV, FX, ESPN, WWF, and more. Stewart was drawn to broadcast by his belief in the power of the moving image. The Queens, NY, native attended Ithaca College in Upstate New York, as well as New York City’s Institute for New Cinema Artist (INCA), which was founded to address the dearth of minority professionals in the work force. His talent and education quickly evolved into a position as a paid intern at CBS Television. “In the Control Room, I experienced the yelling, screaming, and intense frenzy of broadcasting a live network news show,” Stewart recalled. “It was the epitome of controlled chaos.” The internship led to a job at hot-shop-of-the-moment R. Greenberg Associates, followed by a position at post-production house VideoWorks. There, he progressed from the dubbing room to the editorial suite, cutting promos for MTV Networks and the Viacom family, a longstanding relationship he continues to nurture at Rhinopost.
Stewart is no stranger to long form editing, having assembled many EPKs (electronic press kits) for major HBO series and concerts, edited video documentaries about Melissa Etheridge and George Michael, and cut the award-winning Amtrak Diversity video still garnering acclaim to this day. On the music video front, his credits include the Goo Goo Dolls, Paul Stewart and Shabazz, and Tom Waits.
Stewart moved to New York City’s Palace Studios in 2002. There, in addition to his work in a linear On-line room, he mastered the Avid Symphony, which he used as a finishing tool. He worked on the documentary Answering the Call, for which he performed final color correction and the final online cut. He was also Co-Offline Editor, On-Line Editor, and Color Corrector for the History Channel’s, The American Presidency. Stewart reformatted scores of hour-long Biography shows for A&E Networks, a skill he has also brought to the most popular Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. shows for DVD and home video.
The sum of Stewart’s vast experience will be utilized at rhinopost, where he feels he can truly communicate his client’s vision, as well as his own ideas. “Rhinopost addresses its staff and clients with the utmost respect,” he said. “It makes for a place where everyone is happy and fully appreciated.
