It's funny how no panel member can see what this amounts to, It's a trap! I've worked in the technology field for thirty years and seen this never ending cycle of buy-sell-buy. In the video world it's the same cycle. They will never give you the end all solution to archive, how long has film remained to most people the same, year in decade out.
In the electronic world that will never be!

I ran a facility in New York, and our backups were to DLT tapes.
When our facility evolved, we backed up to a network and that proved -- on several occasions -- to be a lifesaver.
Drives are cheap, and certainly cheaper the the potential consequences.
